Water baby

Today was a GORGEOUS day! I had gone to Target earlier and saw some little swim trunks so I picked one out for Tyler. This afternoon we decided to blow up the little pool we had and let Tyler splash around. He had a blast! He loves the water (just like his Daddy). It was so fun to watch him play around in it!!!!

Here are some pics and video.

Weekend(s) wrap-up

Last weekend, we headed down to Kristi (Rodney's cousin) and Blake's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and we got to catch up with family. Tyler also got to meet 2 of his cousins! I've attached a picture of them below.

Rodney's family got a cake to celebrate my birthday the following day. We went to lunch at Los Cucos and then headed back to the camphouse for cake. Tyler was ALL ABOUT the cake! He wanted to get his little fingers and hands all over it. I let him touch it and get a little icing on his fingertips, but I can only imagine how much fun he will have once he's got his OWN cake for his first birthday! He tried a little cake and seemed to like it!

Friday evening, Amy and Cory came to town and we all went to see Taylor Swift. Jake & Sara watched Tyler for the night. We had fun hanging out with Amy and Cory! Taylor Swift put on a great concert! The coolest thing about her music is that she writes all of her songs. We picked Tyler up a little before midnight and then headed back to the house. We got up the next morning, ate breakfast, told Amy & Cory bye and then did stuff around the house.
Last night we ate dinner at TGI Fridays and Tyler ate with us as well! He had some of my grilled chicken, Rodney's mashed potatoes, and my green beans. He LOVES chicken, but wasn't too sure about the potatoes. Every time Rodney gave him some, he made a really funny face. I'm not sure if it was the texture or what... But it was exciting that he was able to eat table food with us. We're trying to give him as much table food as we can, but it's hard sometimes. Often during the week, we don't eat until 7:30 or 8, and Tyler eats at like 6 or 6:30 so it all depends on what's going on...

Tyler still LOVES sucking on his thumb while holding a blankie. He loves the blankies that his Grandma has made for him! He's trying to stand on his own, but can only do it for a few seconds before he falls on his hiney.

We are FINALLY free of ear infections. We had a follow-up appointment this past Thursday and the doc said everything looks good.

YEEHAW!

Tyler had his first (and definitely not last) trip to the Rodeo a week ago on Saturday. I was told that Cavender's had boots for infants, so Rodney stopped by one day and picked up a pair for Tyler. He also got a western shirt, but they didn't have the right size so we had to alter the outfit a little bit.

It was a gorgeous day! We had planned to get an early start, but Tyler actually slept until 8 and Rodney and I were not about to go wake him up! We got to the rodeo around 10:30 and headed in. Rodney was carrying Tyler while I was pushing the stroller and Tyler kept a tight grip on Rodney's arm. I guess the new sights and sounds were making him a little cautious. We walked past all of the rides in the carnival and went into the petting zoo. Tyler had such a good time in there. He tried to pet the goats and sheep and even saw a kangaroo! The llama kind of scared me (and a goat tried to eat my shirt)!

After the petting zoo, we went to the arena to check out the booths. We had lunch with Jake & Sara and then walked around a little more. Tyler saw the moo cows, bulls, horses, and chickens. What fun! Shortly after lunch he decided he was ready to take a nap so we packed up and headed back home.

We rested up and then got ready for a night out to celebrate my birthday. We took Tyler to Jake & Sara's house around 5:30 and then headed to The Striphouse (a steakhouse) downtown. It was sooo good. We had some really good wine and a wonderful meal. We decided to capitalize on the fact that Aunt Sara & Uncle Jake were babysitting Tyler and went to a wine bar after dinner. We discovered more great wine and jotted down the names so that we could buy them later on if we wanted to.
It was a nice evening out! Thanks, Jake & Sara for watching him. I'm sure he had a blast playing and watching Dusty & Dixie!!

It's been a while...

Well, quite a bit has happened since my last post. A couple of weeks ago, Tyler got a stomach bug (at least that's what we think). It was pretty sad. He couldn't hold anything down so we had to give him 1 tsp of pedialyte every 5 minutes! it was fairly late in the evening when we started this, so we did it for maybe 2 hours until he fell asleep. The nurse recommended that we wake him after a few hours to give him a little more to prevent dehydration. I didn't want to get to the point where we had to do an IV, so we followed the instructions. After a couple of days he seemed to be back to his playful, energetic self. Then every now and then he would randomly throw up. We went to the doctor and determined that he had ANOTHER ear infection and the vomiting could be due to that or due to acid reflux. We just finished the antibiotic for the ear infection (and hopefully it's gone this time) and have to take the reflux medicine for 30 days.

Beyond that, Tyler is doing great! Katie was in Houston for work and the timing worked out to where she stayed with us Friday evening thru Monday evening. Even though Tyler was not 100% himself, they had a great visit! Mom, Dad, Jake, and Sara came over for dinner that Saturday to celebrate birthdays.

Here are some picture of Tyler and some from Katie's trip home.
