Pregnancy thru Birth

Rodney put together this video shortly after Tyler's birth. Enjoy!

Day trip to Conroe

Last weekend, the three of us drove up to Conroe to spend the day at Uncle Bret & Aunt Michelle's house. Aunt Nancy came over and the guys grilled fajitas. Tyler did great on the drive; it took us almost 2 hours to get there because of traffic, but he slept most of the time. We had the truck loaded down with his bouncer, play pad, and all sorts of baby stuff! Here are some of the pictures and a video from our visit.

Rolling over

This past Wednesday, Tyler reached a new milestone. He is now able to roll from front to back. I had set him on his tummy and then went to the next room to grab the camera. When I came back, he was on his back! I briefly questioned myself as to whether I had indeed put him on his tummy to begin with. I put him back on his tummy and sure enough, he did it again! The first time he only rolled to his right side, and then today he rolled to his left side.

Tyler's first 3 months

Since Tyler is already 3 1/2 months old, I've decided to post a few of our favorite pictures of his first few months. He is a wonderful baby, crying (usually) only when hungry, dirty, or sleepy. At around 10 weeks old, he started sleeping for longer stretches at night (about 5-6 hours). Just recently, we've had a few nights where he's slept for 8 hours! He loves taking baths and is starting to smile more and more.

I love it when Rodney comes home and Tyler sees him. It takes a while, but after a few seconds, Tyler gives his Daddy a precious all-gums smile! Tyler loves storytime and will look at the books and coo while we're reading to him. He also LOVES his bouncer. When he's energetic, we'll put him in there and he will kick and make the sweetest noises!

He's learned quickly how to get whatever he wants! He has the cutest and saddest (is that a word?) little 'pouty' face! I've attached a picture below.

We are blessed with wonderful families and friends, all who have been so supportive and helpful during this new adjustment in our lives. Tyler is the first grandbaby on both sides, so needless to say, he definitely isn't starved for attention!

Tyler's Birth

Tyler Evan Hicks was born at 8:20 AM on May 7, 2008. At my 34 week ultrasound, we found out he was breech so we scheduled a c-section for May 9. Well, Tyler decided he didn't want to wait that long. Around 9:30 PM on May 6, I started having minor contractions. They went on for an hour and ranged from 6-10 minutes apart, so I called the doctor as instructed. She told me to come in and they would see what was going on. So, we got ready and loaded everything up in the car. We were so excited about the possibility of meeting the little guy sooner than we thought! I was admitted, and they monitored Tyler's and my vitals. The nurse talked to the on-call doctor to see what the plan was. They decided to keep me overnight and would talk to my doctor first thing in the morning to see how she wanted to proceed.

Needless to say, neither of us got any sleep that night! Around 5:00 AM, the on-call doctor came in and told us that Dr. Richter was going to perform my c-section around 8:00 that morning. We were so excited! We called our families to let them know Tyler was going to arrive that day.

The nurses came in around 7:00 that morning to prep me for surgery and around 8:00 I was wheeled into the OR. Rodney came in shortly after and a few minutes later we heard the first cry of our new baby. It was such an amazing experience! After waiting 9 months, our son was finally here!

He weighed 6 lbs 10 oz and was 19 1/4 inches long.
